Gifts Galore

Our little niece is turning 3 so I decorated a "big girl" bag for her and made a special birthday card. I really enjoy handmade touches when giving gifts. That flower was fun to make...just circles, folds and a few stitches. We used to live next door to a wonderful family for about 10 years and our kids grew up together. Now their oldest child is getting married tonight! (Can't believe it...I feel so old...I've known this little gal since she was about 5 years old!) I decided to put together a gift basket of Christmas decorations since most young couples starting out don't always have a lot of that type of thing.

Michael's had these cute little chipboard albums in their dollar section so I made an "Our First Christmas" book for the happy couple.
I decorated the blocks after seeing a few different versions online and this is what I came up with.
Here's the front of the gift basket. I also included several other things, as you can obviously see. A bag of scented pinecones, cards, an ornament, gift bags, a Home Interiors decorative music thing/candle holder and some other stuff.
I wrapped the whole basket with tulle and lots of ribbons. I'm very pleased with how everything turned out and I think they'll like it, too!Oh yeah, and my jury duty service? All done now, thankfully. It's so frustrating how you have to sit at the courthouse and waste your time waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. I never was seated on a jury (man, was I ever glad!) and the judge excused me today because of the whole wedding deal. What a nice guy, eh? :)
Enjoy your weekend!

Busyness
Wow...can't believe weeks have passed since my last post! I've been quite busy lately. Although not every detail is worked out yet, our family will more than likely be making a move to a neighboring town soon. Lots of purging, dumping, donating, organizing and packing going on around here! It means a school change for our daughters but they are quite excited :)
I was also picked for jury duty so I've had to call that jury hotline each evening...so far I haven't had to go! One more week to see if I actually have to be at the courthouse; then I'm done. What has your experience with jury duty been like?
Hope y'all have a super weekend! It is supposed to be sunny and unseasonably warm here...so happy about that :)

Not Much of Anything
Haven't blogged much lately 'cause nothing is really going on! I finished up some things for my daughter Tess' bedroom....her bed, a vanity, duvet cover, etc. There are still a few things left to do so I'll reveal the whole room when I'm done.
Can't believe how quickly October is passing on by, can you?!

A Very Cold Walk For A Super Cause!

Taylor and me...boy, that hot coffee sure was great right about that time! (Notice my 'SURVIVOR' ribbon :)
I'm sure you're all aware that October is 'Breast Cancer Awareness' month, right? Well, my daughter Taylor & I participated in our first 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' walk this past weekend. It was quite cold out (not quite 40 degrees @ 8 a.m.) but we both got all bundled up in our long johns, layered clothes, gloves, hats and put our walking shoes on! The walk was about 3.5 miles long and about 4,000 people turned out to walk in support. There was so much pink there that day! :) It was a really cool experience and I can't wait for next year!

Homecoming Fun

Tonight was the Homecoming dance so I thought I'd just share a few pictures with you. Taylor went with a group of friends from school. This year we decided to do something different. Instead of getting a limo, going out to eat and spending lots of money, a few kids came over to our house for a good old-fashioned dinner. I fixed a pot roast, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, biscuits and chocolate cake for dessert. It was a very nice, relaxed, enjoyable time before they left for the dance. As you can see from the pictures...yes, I have lots of hair now! (Yes indeedy, it's all mine and not a wig! Probably sounds silly but I am very thankful for it!!!!)
